Enzo Mingione

Professor of Sociology – University of Milano-Bicocca, Dean of Faculty of Sociology – University of Milano-Bicocca. Full Professor since 1990. Previously Director of the Department of Theory and Analysis of Social and Political Phenomena, University of Messina, Visiting Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, Department of Sociology, Director of the Department of Sociology, University of Padova.

Enzo Mingione has extensive research experience as a scientific coordinator both at the national and international level with regard to poverty and social exclusion, social change, informal and formal labour markets. At the National level he is the scientific coordinator of the Observatory of New Poverties based at Bicocca; during the last two years he coordinated the biggest project funded by the Ministry of the University “Le tendenze al mutamento della società italiana’. At the international level he was Coordinator of the Italian part of the EU Project ESOPO (The Evaluation of Social Policies against Social Exclusion at the Local Urban Level) (1996-98), a member of the EU Experts Group on "Future of Work and Perspectives of Labour Law in the context of Social Regulation" (1996-98), Coordinator of the Italian part of the EU Project UGIS (Urban Development Programmes, Urban Governance, Social Inclusion & Sustainability) (2000-03). Since 2002 he has served as the international coordinator of the URBEUR European doctorate, "Urban and Local European Studies", and of the Research and Training Network URBEUROPE, financed by the EU.
