Jean-Marc Fontan is a researcher at CRISES. He has over 15 years experience in research on local and community development and has over than 50 publications in this field. His research projects are funded by the SSHRC of Canada and others public and private institutions. His research interests lie in the field of economic sociology, development studies in the metropolitan context, social innovation, poverty and social exclusion. Relevant other activities include: co-director with Nancy Neamtan of Chantier de l’économie sociale du Québec and of a Community-University Research Alliance on Social Economy; director of the Montreal Observatory of development.
