Centre for Urban Studies, Roskilde University

The Centre for Urban Studies is based at Roskilde University and includes researchers from the Department of Social Sciences, the Department of History and Social Theory, the Department of Environment, Technology, and Social Studies, and the Department of Geography and International Development Studies.It covers research about social inequality and how this is affected by urban, housing, employment and social policy (welfare regimes) at national and local level (including migrants inclusion and exclusion in the contemporary labour markets). A number of interdisciplinary studies about citizens involvement, social movements, community mobilisation and governance dynamics in implementation of integrated area based strategies in deprived urban areas has been carried out.
