Centre de recherche et d’information sur la démocratie et l’autonomie, Paris

The Centre de recherche et d'information sur la démocratie et l’autonomie (CRIDA, Research and Information Center on Democracy and Autonomy) was founded in 1984. The CRIDA gathers sociologists and economists who develop a contemporary socio-economic approach in four main fields of research:

  • Third sector, social enterprises and solidarity-based economy ;
  • Proximity services and local initiatives ;
  • Integration, labour market and social policies ;
  • Socio-economic systems and democracy.
  • At the international level, the CRIDA has developed co-operations with various academic circles and research networks in Europe, North and South America. CRIDA is one of the founding members of the European research network EMES. CRIDA was also the local host for the first International Third Sector Research (ISTR)/EMES European Conference in 2005. CRIDA’s researchers have been involved in several European research projects in the fields of social policies, third sector, local initiatives and employment. They coordinated the international comparative child care project (TSFEPS) and participated in projects on the socio-economic performance of social enterprises in the field of work integration (PERSE research) and third sector European policy (TSEP).
